Following a special appeal, supporters of Mayflower raised the funds to ensure the safe passage of these to lovely ladies from Romania.
Since arriving they are slowly building up trust but this will take time.
They will need housetraining and lead training.
They are both friendly but as to be expected very nervous and will need time to get to know you.
They are available for adoption, please speak to a member of staff for more details.
My name is Gilly and my best buddy is Aryia.
We lived on the streets of Romania until very recently.
Life was very hard and dangerous on the streets – constantly searching for food and shelter whilst keeping out of the way of the bigger dogs and humans who aren’t exactly sympathetic to dogs like us.
I can’t remember when I first met Aryia but we are bonded and are now inseparable. She protects me as I’m only small and therefore vulnerable. Until the dogcatchers came !!!
Aryia was captured first and to be honest I didn’t take much catching as I just wanted to be with my best (and only) friend.
We were taken to the Pound. Its was an awful place. The noise was horrendous with all the scared dogs and food was even scarcer than on the streets as we now had to compete with all the others in the enclosure for every morsel.
Men with poles came most days and took some of the dogs away. We didn’t know where they went but they never came back!!!
We didn’t know when they may come for us.
Luckily, thanks to the wonderful supporters of Mayflower Sanctuary we were rescued at the last hour. Funds were raised by kind people, and we were on the next bus out of the pound and on our way to the UK.
We are now safe, warm, fed and loved by everyone at Mayflower and we have been promised a home together.
Things are looking brighter for us and we can’t thank everyone enough for giving us this chance.
