The more helping hands that we have the better the stay with us for all the animals. There are lots of things that we need help with, from cleaning kennels and cat pens, to walking dogs, grooming, fundraising, homechecking and even DIY and gardening. We can make use of whatever skill you have or time you can spare us.To volunteer at the sanctuary you need to be reasonably fit as most of the work involves bending. You also must be at least 18 years of age. Before doing any hands on work with the animals you will need to attend a Health and Safety session here at the sanctuary, which usually take place on the first Thursday of each month at 10:30.If you would like to help email us your details and which Thursday you can attend.

Like most other Rescue Centres, we are always full and demand always exceeds what we can provide as far as taking new dogs and cats in. What else have you tried? Have you looked at other rescue websites, for example catchat.org (for cats) including the ones for that specific breed? Can friends, relatives or behaviourist/training help? Rehoming can be considered once all other options have been exhausted. If you have to rehome try and do this yourself. Never advertise on internet. If all other options have been exhausted, send us some photographs of the animal, preferably stood up (so we can determine size) and some details including the age, sex, breed and name of the dog/cat, whether neutered/spayed, whether vaccinated, lived with children and the ages, good with other dogs, good with cats, reason for rehoming and any other information you think may be useful. These can be emailed to our email address of info@mayflowersanctuary.co.uk. From there you will be placed on a waiting list and when there is room you will be contacted (please note that at certain times of the year this could be longer than usual). We would appreciate a donation towards the cost of the running of the Sanctuary, once you sign your animal over to us.
